Taiwan is not just about Taiwan. Taiwan is about you, it\u2019s about me, it\u2019s about every person who wants to live in a free society. The free society of Taiwan , however, is now endangered. It is, of course, endangered by the PRC, the one- party state sees the Island not as a vibrant democracy, not as a peaceful neighbor, not as Taiwan, but as it\u2019s 34th province.\uff08\u53f0\u7063\u4e0d\u50c5\u4ee3\u8868\u53f0\u7063\u3002\u53f0\u7063\u4ee3\u8868\u7684\u662f\u59b3\/\u4f60\uff0c\u662f\u6211\uff0c\u662f\u9858\u610f\u751f\u6d3b\u5728\u81ea\u7531\u793e\u6703\u88e1\u7684\u6bcf\u4e00\u500b\u4eba\u3002\u00a0 \u7136\u800c\uff0c\u81ea\u7531\u7684\u53f0\u7063\u793e\u6703\u6b63\u906d\u53d7\u5a01\u8105\u3002\u7121\u5eb8\u7f6e\u7591\u7684\uff0c\u53f0\u7063\u9996\u8981\u5a01\u8105\u4f86\u81eaPRC\uff0c\u9019\u500b\u4e00\u9ee8\u5c08\u653f\u7684\u570b\u5bb6\uff1a\u4e0d\u662f\u5f9e\u53f0\u7063\u84ec\u52c3\u7684\u6c11\u4e3b\u5236\u5ea6\uff0c\u4e0d\u662f\u5f9e\u53f0\u7063\u662f\u4e00\u500b\u548c\u5e73\u7684\u9130\u5c45\uff0c\u4e0d\u662f\u4ee5\u53f0\u7063\u7684\u89d2\u5ea6\uff0c\u800c\u662f\u4ee5\u53f0\u7063\u662f\u5b83\u7684\u7b2c34\u7701\u7684\u89d2\u5ea6\u770b\u5f85\u53f0\u7063\uff09<\/p>\n

But China is not the only threat to Taiwan. Taiwan is now threatened by its own government, which is constricting the night to protest, jailing its opposition, pressuring the country\u2019s media, and undermining Taiwanese identity. \uff08\u4f46\u662fChina\u4e0d\u662f\u53f0\u7063\u552f\u4e00\u7684\u5a01\u8105\u8005\u3002\u53f0\u7063\u73fe\u5728\u9084\u9762\u81e8\u4f86\u81ea\u53f0\u7063\u672c\u8eab\u9078\u51fa\u4f86\u653f\u6b0a\u7684\u5a01\u8105\u3002\u53f0\u7063\u73fe\u5728\u7684\u653f\u6b0a\uff1a\u9650\u5236\u4eba\u6c11\u6297\u8b70\u7684\u6b0a\u5229\uff0c\u7981\u932e\u53cd\u5c0d\u9ee8\u9818\u8896\uff0c\u65bd\u58d3\u5a92\u9ad4\u4ee5\u53ca\u524a\u5f31\u53f0\u7063\u610f\u8b58\u3002\uff09<\/p>\n

\u00a0If all the experts are right, then an independent Taiwan is doomed. If they have correctly analyzed historical trends, then you, free Taiwanese, have no future. You will be colonized by the PRC. But today I come to Taiwan to say to you, I stand on this stage at this moment to declare, the 23million people on this island shall never surrender to abhorrent regime in Beijing, people here will continue to live in truth and freedom, and Taiwan will never become China\u2019s 34th province. \uff08\u5982\u679c\u9019\u4e9b\u5c08\u5bb6\u7684\u9810\u6e2c\u662f\u6b63\u78ba\u7684\uff0c\u90a3\u5728\u5ea7\u7684\u5404\u4f4d\uff0c\u5404\u4f4d\u81ea\u7531\u7684\u53f0\u7063\u4eba\uff0c\u662f\u6c92\u6709\u672a\u4f86\u7684\u3002\u56e0\u70ba\u4f60\u5011\u5c07\u88ab\u652f\u90a3\u6b96\u6c11\u7d71\u6cbb\u3002\u4f46\u662f\uff0c\u4eca\u5929\u6211\u4f86\u5230\u53f0\u7063\uff0c\u7ad9\u5728\u9019\u8b1b\u53f0\u4e0a\uff0c\u6211\u8981\u5411\u4f60\u5011\u5ba3\u544a\uff1a\u751f\u6d3b\u5728\u9019\u584a\u571f\u5730\u7684\u4eba\u6c11\u7d55\u4e0d\u6703\u5411\u53ad\u60e1\u7684\u5317\u4eac\u653f\u6b0a\u6295\u964d\uff0c\u53f0\u7063\u4eba\u6c11\u5c07\u7e7c\u7e8c\u751f\u6d3b\u5728\u771f\u5be6\u8207\u81ea\u7531\u88e1\uff1b\u53f0\u7063\u7d55\u4e0d\u6703\u6210\u70ba\u652f\u90a3\u573034\u7701\u3002\uff09<\/p>\n

But these experts have it wrong. In fact, China needs Taiwan more than Taiwan needs China. And tying Taiwan\u2019s economy to China\u2019s will create a disaster. \uff08\u4f46\u662f\u9019\u4e9b\u5c08\u5bb6\u90fd\u932f\u4e86\u3002\u4e8b\u5be6\u4e0a\uff0c\u8ddf\u53f0\u7063\u9700\u8981\u652f\u90a3\u6bd4\u8d77\u4f86\uff0c\u652f\u90a3\u5176\u5be6\u66f4\u9700\u8981\u53f0\u7063\u3002\u5c07\u53f0\u7063\u7684\u7d93\u6fdf\u8207\u652f\u90a3\u7d93\u6fdf\u639b\u9264\u5c07\u662f\u4e00\u5834\u707d\u96e3\u3002\uff09<\/p>\n

America\u2019s Asian policy is anchored on defending Japan. As a quick glance of map will reveal, the main island of Taiwan and its various outlying islands protect the southern approaches to the Japanese archipelago. It would, therefore, be difficult for America to defend Japan if Taiwan became part of PRC. If the Pentagon is not able to defend Japan, South Korea would become surrounded and would surely fall into Beijing\u2019s lap as well. With its two formal alliances gone, the United States would be out of Asia. The only thing that holds the Chinese in check is America, and Taiwan is the key to keeping the United Statesin the game. \uff08\u7f8e\u570b\u7684\u4e9e\u6d32\u653f\u7b56\u662f\u4ee5\u9632\u885b\u65e5\u672c\u70ba\u4e3b\u3002\u6211\u5011\u7784\u4e00\u4e0b\u5730\u5716\u4fbf\u77e5\u9053\uff0c\u53f0\u7063\u5cf6\u4ee5\u53ca\u5916\u570d\u5cf6\u934a\u80fd\u5920\u4fdd\u885b\u65e5\u672c\u7fa4\u5cf6\u4ee5\u5357\u7684\u901a\u8def\u3002\u5982\u679c\u53f0\u7063\u662f\u652f\u90a3\u7684\u4e00\u90e8\u5206\uff0c\u7f8e\u570b\u5c07\u96e3\u4ee5\u9632\u885b\u65e5\u672c\u3002\u5982\u679c\u7f8e\u570b\u4e94\u89d2\u5927\u5ec8\u7121\u6cd5\u5354\u9632\u65e5\u672c\uff0c\u5357\u97d3\u5c07\u6703\u88ab\u5305\u570d\uff0c\u4e5f\u6703\u843d\u5165\u5317\u4eac\u7684\u624b\u4e2d\u3002\u7576\u7f8e\u570b\u5931\u53bb\u9019\u5169\u500b\u76df\u570b\u6642\uff0c\u7f8e\u570b\u5c07\u88ab\u8e22\u96e2\u4e9e\u6d32\u3002\u63db\u8a00\u4e4b\uff0c\u7f8e\u570b\u662f\u552f\u4e00\u80fd\u5920\u8207\u652f\u90a3\u6297\u8861\u7684\u570b\u5bb6\uff0c\u800c\u53f0\u7063\u5247\u662f\u5e6b\u52a9\u7f8e\u570b\u7559\u5728\u4e9e\u6d32\u7684\u95dc\u9375\u9ede\u3002\uff09<\/p>\n
